The Culture Club was founded by Michelle Griffin in 2017, when she discovered a solution to her life-threatening and rare auto immune disorder. After a diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis in 2009, she tried a myriad of medical interventions and natural treatments – before realizing how the gut microbiome could impact immune response. Ineffective immune regulation is a common consequence of microbiome dysbiosis, which is an imbalance or a deficiency of gut bacteria.
While living in Mexico for almost a decade, Michelle experienced multiple bacteria related gut infections which were treated with broad spectrum antibiotics. But her immune health started to decline. So she conducted her own research and connected the dots between her gut health and immune condition. While researching gut health related immune disorders she came across the articles, clinical studies and published research of Gitte Jensen, PhD.
She collaborated with Dr. Jensen to establish an efficacious supplement to manage her immune disorder using a unique combination of bacteria and fermentation. They co-created the first 3-in-1 prebiotic + probiotic + postbiotic formula. This is the basis of the patent pending formula Urban Flora.™
As an avid animal lover Michelle shared the formula with her healthy and ailing pets only to find the results equally outstanding. This led to the creation of MuttGut and KittyGut.
The powerful P’s that pack a punch
Probiotics- These are good bacteria that live inside your pet’s digestion tract. They help digest food and keep the balance between good and bad bacteria, which sometimes is thrown off by pets consuming not so great food or sometimes, dirt. Adding this to your pet’s diet can stop runny poop in its tracks.
Prebiotics- These are a type of fiber, such as rice bran, that encourage the good bacteria already in your pet’s stomach to grow. So when bad bacteria threaten the delicate balance in your pet’s gut, Prebiotics give the good bacteria (probiotics) a much needed boost in levels which can help when allergies flare up.
Postbiotics- These are the beneficial products left over after probiotics have used up prebiotics. This helps your pet digest their food more easily which increases absorption of nutrients. When your pet can effectively absorb nutrients such as protein, this can aid in healthy growth.
Urban Flora just isn’t fermented to capitalize on the power of good bacteria, but a wealth of other superpowers too.
